I’m a digital world junkie. I’m still finding it hard to make the break from computer programmer to stay-at-home-mom, so any opportunity to dive back into the computer world and I’m all over it!
I was recently given the chance to review the My Memories Suite, a new digital scrapbooking software. At first I wasn’t so sure if I’d ever be convert. I have been traditionally scrapbooking for years. I
have all the supplies that I need to create pages so the question remains…Why would I ever need software to do what I can do with paper and glue? The answer is The My Memories Suite Digital Scrapbooking Softwaremakes it so easy and fast that you can ‘scrap’ your memories in less time than it takes you dig out your traditional supplies.
The software allows you to quickly create pages through the use of templates and quickpages or you can design your own from scratch. The scrapbook page ‘Joy to the World’ was created using a page that comes preloaded with your suite. It took a grand total of 2 minutes to create. How easy is that? To create the same thing traditionally would have taken me at least an hour. One of my favourite things about going digital is that I save so much time by not having to dig out my supplies. I can just open up my laptop and start creating.
If you like to be a little more creative the folks at My Memories have a store that you can purchase and download pagekits. Many of them are also available for free, and who doesn’t love something that is free? Each kit is professionally designed and the best part is you can go shopping in your pj’s.
The “Be Yourself” page was created using a purchased kit. I was able to combine different elements and create the page exactly as I wanted. You’re not only limited to created scrapbook pages with your software, you can make facebook page badges, buttons (although you will have to resize these in another program because the smallest size it can do is 200x200px), your only limited by your own creativity!
The folks at My Memories have created a fantastic community on their blog, facebook and twitter pages. You can find friends to scrap with and get ideas. Help is always available either from tutorials, their help files or even a post on facebook. I had a question tonight that I posted an it was resolved in under 5 minutes. They host scrap challenges and even a gallery to show off your work.
I think my favourite part about digital scrapbooking is your collection only grows over time. Once you download your favourite kits you can reuse them. The suite also makes it so easy to share your albums with friends and family. Printing my pages is the only drawback to an otherwise great program. My printer doesn’t print 12×12 pages but you can easily find sites online that have reasonable prices. What I did was create my page as an 8×8 and I was able to have it printed at the photo kiosk at our local store.
I love this software. It allows me to scrapbook any time I want without the mess and hassle associated with traditional scrapbooking. I don’t think I’m prepared just yet to give up all my scrapbooking supplies, but I think this piece of software will be added into my stash and for now, while my babies are still babies and I don’t have much free time, digital scrapping will be the thing for me!
The folks at My Memories have offered my readers a $10 discount off the purchase of the My Memories Suite Scrapbook software and a $10 coupon for the MyMemories.com store – $20 value! Please use the code: STMMMS62484
