Bella Viva Mixed Dried Fruit

Bella Viva Mixed Dried Fruit

We’re trying to eat healthier at our house, but it isn’t always easy or convenient. We buy fruit but a lot of the time it ends up in our freezer for smoothies so it doesn’t rot and go to waste. Raisins and cereal bars were my go-to “fast food” to pack for trips but I don’t care for raisins and the cereals bars tended to leave a crumby mess, not to mention all the additives that are in them.

I was pleased when I was selected to recieve a 1lb package of mixed dried fruit from Bella Viva Orchards to review. It didn’t take long for my family to open the package and try some. Inside we found an assortment of mixed fruit – apricots, peaches, plums, pears, apples and nectarines.

The fruit was pleasing to the eye, it was more moist than the dried fruit I have found locally. It retained much of it’s flavour and my daughter loved to try the “doughnuts” (dried apples). We tried everything except for the plums (we just weren’t brave enough). I blended those into my sons cereal which he just gobbled down.

Slightly more expensive than the dried fruit I found at our local grocery store, we feel that based on flavour we would rather spend the little extra. We love the fact that the fruit is organic, which is hard to find in our area.

We love the convenience of the dried fruit. We were able to quickly toss some in a baggie and head out the door. There was no mess to contend with. My husband mixed his with some almonds and made his own trail mix for snacking on at work.

The mix comes in a plastic bag that I wish was resealable, but it was sturdy and held up to repeated openings. I can’t say how long the dried fruit lasts since it was gone in a couple of days! If you visit the Bella Viva website there are some delicious looking recipes that I would have loved to try, except “someone” at all my fruit!

They sell an assortment of products on their site.  They have gift baskets for that hard to buy person on your gift list. I want to try out the chocolates next.  They look absolutely delicious. Who can resist chocolate covered almonds?
