CHICKENS! – KellyNeedlearts Review

Easter is coming up!  It seems like only yesterday it was Christmas.  While we don’t go all out with gifts at Easter time we do like to celebrate by giving our children a few small gifts, but what do you get for the children who have everything?

The answer is easy!  CHICKENS! and yes, you do have to yell a little bit when you say it.  Once you see them you’ll understand…as soon as you pick them up you just feel the need to shout it!

Kelly from KellyNeedlearts has sewn, with love, these adorable chickens for my kids.  They just aren’t for Easter they are perfect for any time of year.  Mine are made with high quality Easter fabric.  I love how the fabric opened up a story time opportunity.  While we were looking at the colours and designs on the fabric I was able to explain to her a little bit about the story of Easter using the designs on the fabric.

Chickens

The chickens have embroidered eyes and sweet little felt beaks.  They are so soft.  Perfect for my son to throw them around (usually at his sister).  I’m not worried about anyone getting hurt.  With the weather being so cold outside, sometimes we get a little rowdy in doors.

They are perfect for taking places.  Each one is slightly different, but similar enough that my kids don’t fight over them.  If they get dirty, I can toss them into the washer.

They look very sweet sitting in a basket or just setting them on a shelf.  They are a constant source of entertainment and conversation.  We play a game where we sit down and toss the chickens at each other and tell chicken jokes.  My daughter’s favourite is…

Question: “How do chicken’s dance?”
Answer: Chick to Chick.

Chickens hopscotchThe best feature of these chickens is that they encourage creative play!  They don’t squeak or squawk, so it is up to you to make your own fun with them.

My kids have found a variety of ways to play with them.  My daughters all time favourite is using them as “stones” in hopscotch!  We created a hopscotch board on the floor and have played for hours.
