Friends in France – Family Sing a long – Volume 1 – REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

Living in the country means that we spend a lot of time in our car driving from place to place.  We spend a lot of time singing silly songs on the way to dance class, and I for one can not hold a tune in a bucket but it doesn’t stop me from belting out my favourite songs!

Since we love singing in the car, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review the Friends in France French Sing-a-longs.  I love introducing my daughter to new languages and we’ve been working on some of her French language skills for a while.  This CD is just another great avenue to immerse ourselves in the language for a little while.

The CD has 7 fun songs.

  • Jean Petit Qui Danse
  • Meunier Tu Dor
  • Un Petit Bonhomme
  • Le Creperie de Paris
  • Petit Papa Noel
  • Le Clocher du Vieus Manoir
  • J’aime la Galette

Each song starts out with an explanation in English and she takes the time to say each word clearly in French leaving a pause for you to try it out yourself. Ms. Copper has a very lyrical voice. My daughter is thrilled that she leaves a pause just for her! Our favourite song is the very first one on the CD, Jean Petit Qui Danse or in English, Little Jean Dances.  We’ve been learning the various body parts.  I’ve uploaded a quick video of my daughter singing along.  Pardon the pronunciation, we were just starting to sing along…

Learning a language through song is a lot of fun, and it helps make the new words memorable.   I find I am less self-consciousness about my pronunciation of the words when I am singing along than when I am making an attempt at conversation. I don’t have to wait until someone is around to practice my French vocabulary I can just start singing along!

My daughter loves the bright cheery music and I can see us singing some of these songs around the campfire this summer, especially “Jean Petit Qui Danse” and doing some fun little actions to it.

If you are looking for a fun way to learn a new language this is a great way to learn!
