Treasury of Bible Stories – Kelly Pulley Review and Giveaway

BibleStoriesAfter a long and busy day there is nothing that I enjoy more is those few quiet moments just before bed when my daughter and I crawl under the covers and chat about our day.  One of the last things we do together is to read two stories, the first one is always a Bible story and the second is a “whatever” story.

Often times I find myself avoiding some stories with my daughter because they are just too scary.  The first time I ever read her the story of Noah’s Ark she started to cry because it was raining outside and she was convinced that God was going to flood the world again.  She is very sensitive and I have to be careful about what I read to her just before bed.

“Magnificent Tales – Treasury of Bible Stories” is a perfect book for bedtime. Each rhyme re-tells  Bible Story in a whimsical and playful way making the stories a little less scary.  Last night we read the story of Daniel and the Lions Den.  I was concerned that she was going to find it too scary but she leaned over to me and whispered, “Don’t worry Mom, God will keep him safe.”  Even through the humour she is able to understand the truths and lessons behind each story.

StoryTimeThe stories are lyrical and are easy to read aloud.  The illustrations are bright and colourful. The author has done an excellent job at keeping the stories true to the Bible.  Each story is a perfect length for bedtime.  Both the Old and New Testament stories are retold. I love how the beginning of each story tells where in the Bible it comes from.   I think this is a book we will read again and again.

When my son hears me reading the stories, he’ll sneak out of his room and crawl into bed with us to hear “just one more story” before his own bedtime.  This is a book that is fun for all ages and shares important truths and lessons that I want my children to remember, learn and live.

If you are looking for one book to keep by your child’s bed I highly recommend “Magnificent Tales – Treasury of Bible Stories”.
