The Sweetest Story Bible for Toddlers by Diane Stortz

SweetestStoryEvery night my kids and I spend time reading together. We always try to read at least one bible story together before we say our bedtime prayers. At 5, she’s heard the stories several times but still loves them each time she hears them.

“The Sweetest Story Bible for Toddlers” contains 4 Old Testament stories and 4 New Testaments stories that show our little ones how much God loves and protects us. The author tells the story of the Creation, Noah’s Ark, Moses and Queen Esther, the Birth of Christ, Jesus and the Children, the Crucifixion and his Resurrection in a way that toddlers can understand.

Often times I find bible stories can be scary, especially the story of the Crucifixion.  This is an important part of our faith and a story that the little ones hear each Easter.  The author  and illustrator share this story with our little ones in a way that they understand the pain and sorrow of Christ without seeing and hearing all the gruesome details. The rest of the stories are beautifully told showing the happiness and joy that God’s love can bring to each of us.

The book is targeted for toddler girls, but my 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son still enjoyed reading it with me.  It’s a sturdy board book perfect for little hands to flip through it’s pages. Each story is beautifully illustrated and the stories are simple that this will be a book that I believe my children will use as an early reader as well. I love how each story also tells which part of the bible it is from, so that you and your little one can explore it it further detail if you choose to.

The author and illustrator have taken some of our most beloved and retold them for our little ones so they learn how God will love and protect them always. This would be a wonderful gift for any little girl.
