Grace of God DVD – Review and Giveaway

GraceOfGodDvdWhat is God’s Grace?  My heart knows what it is, but to putting it into words is much more difficult.  God’s Grace is the unearned favour, compassion, mercy and forgiveness that God gives to us, not because we deserve it but because he loves us.  It’s always unconditional and freely given unlike human love, which often has conditions placed on it before it is given away.

The movie “Grace of God: A Story of Easter Traditions” tells the story of Detective Bill Broadly, a man who lost his faith many years ago.  When a church discovers a large sum of money has gone missing he was called in to investigate.  As he questions the congregation they become upset and rumours start to fly as more and more people learn of the theft.  Through the investigation Detective Broadly find his faith in God again.

The “Grace of God” stars several big name actors such as John Ratzenberger (“Cheers,” WALL-E, Toy Story),    Erin Bethea (Fireproof, Letters to God) and Lorenzo Lamas (“The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Falcon Crest”).

The movie sends home a lot of truths for our daily lives.  It teaches us that even a small sin (like stealing a pen from work) is just the same as a large sin (like stealing a large sum of money).  A sin is a sin, no matter how big or small.  The movie also demonstrates how even Christians can make poor choices that have consequences for a great number of people.  It also shows how a congregation needs to stand together and leave their own judgements behind and focus on God’s love, mercy and forgiveness.

In the movie the pastor stood firm to his beliefs. Pay special attention to his sermon at the end of the movie, you’ll be blessed that you did.

The subtitle “A Story of Easter Traditions” is a little lost on me. I’m not sure why it is called that other than it tells the story of a church family where each member has their own unique cross to bear and finds forgiveness through God’s grace and mercy.

The movie is not rated but the Dove Foundation gave it “Faith Friendly”, and marked it appropriate for children ages 12 and up!

  1. I’d watch it with my husband and then let my church borrow it in hopes of them showing it at our Family Film Fest night!

  2. This would be for our Family Movie night– then I would share it with my church for the Family Fun Night we have once a month
