Princess Prayers – 15 Prayers for Little Girls

My most important job as a parent is to teach my daughter the skills she needs to survive in this world. I have taught her to look both ways when crossing the street and how to tie her shoes (almost). The one thing I struggle most with teaching her is how to pray from her heart.  “Princess Prayers” helps me teach her how to pray, while entertaining her too.

“Princess Prayers” is a collection of fifteen prayers for little girls featuring our favourite princesses. Learn along with Grace, Hope, Faith, Charity, and Joy as they share their prayers to God.

Each prayer is a beautiful prayer to God, written in poem. I love that they are done in rhyme, as it makes them easier to recall especially during times of high stress! Some may feel that a pre-written prayer isn’t meaningful. I believe that as long as you are praying those words from your heart, it is still beautiful in God’s ears.

The book is full of beautiful  richly coloured illustrations. The princesses are familiar to anyone who have may read the “Princess Parables” series. The book covered is padded and the pages are rounded making it durable for younger readers who will want to read it again and again. The book is geared to the “girly girl”.

I love that each page has a special Bible verse that relates perfectly to the prayer.  Many verses are simple enough that even the youngest child can memorize. For example, “When I’m afraid, I put my trust in you.” – Psalm 56:3. There are a few scriptures that may be a little more difficult to understand.  One example of this is “But God is faithful and fair. If we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins.” – 1 John 1: 9.   Use them as an opportunity to strengthen your child’s relationship with God as you discuss what they mean!

“Princess Prayers” helps my daughter understand that you can pray in any situation and that God is there and hears us. There are prayers for everyday situations that your child can relate to. Prayers for when she is afraid, happy and when she is sorry.

Prayer is a conversation with God. I love that the book begins with a morning prayer. It reminds us that we should start our day right, by sharing time with God. It also ends with a nighttime prayer, showing us that we should end our day the same way. “My Nighttime Prayer”  is my favourite one in whole book. We are all familiar with the traditional “Now I lay me down to sleep”, but my daughter finds this one unsettling before bed. “My Nighttime Prayer” is comforting, thanks God for a fun-filled day and asking for protection through the night.

“Princess Prayers” is a beautiful way to teach your little girl how to pray. It reminds us that we can talk to God about anything that is our hearts. God loves to hear our prayers about the fun we had during the day or the things that scare us at night. “Princess Prayers” can be purchased at most major retailers including ZonderKidz.
