Captivating Lady Charlotte

Life is full of difficult choices. One of the biggest decisions you will ever make is choosing who you will marry. Would you have the courage to trust your parents to make the right decision for you? “The Captivating Lady Charlotte” will transport you back to a time were arranged marriages were the social norm, and love wasn’t always a reality.

Captivating Lady Charlotte

“The Captivating Lady Charlotte” by Carolyn Miller is the second book in the “REGENCY BRIDES A Legacy of Grace” series of books. Set in London, England in 1814, it tells the story of Lady Charlotte Featherington. This is Lady Charlotte’s coming out season and her parents are looking for a suitable husband for her.

Her parents have chosen Duke William Harrington who is newly widowed and much older than Lady Charlotte. Duke Harrington has fallen for Lady Charlotte even though she is in love with a young Lord of no social standing. The Duke knows that he isn’t Lady Charlotte’s choice of husband. Will her sense of duty win out over her romantic notions? Will he ever win her love?

“The Captivating Lady Charlotte” brings to mind I Corinthians 13:4-8.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

All to often we are looking for the “crazy rush” that comes when we fall in love and we forget to look to what the Bible says love is – it is patient, kind, protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres. Instead of these things we look at physical appearance, social status and wealth. We need to remember that love is not only born from emotion, but also from actions.

“The Captivating Lady Charlotte” teaches us that God is in control and has a plan for our lives, but we need to trust him with all our heart and follow where he leads us. It is not always going to be an easy road, there will be many ups and down. God will be there for us no matter what we are going through.

“The Captivating Lady Charlotte” takes you back to a time when manners and social standing mean everything. It can be read as a stand alone book or as part of the series. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
