The Nespresso Vertuo is a nice-sized single serving coffee machine. It fits well on the countertop and blends in well with the other appliances. There are two reservoirs located on the machine; the water reservoir and the used pod receptacle. The water holds an ample amount of water to brew various sizes of nespresso coffee. I am not an espresso connoisseur, so chose the larger coffee brews such as the alto intense, Mexico, Columbian, melozio, and caramelizio.
I have used many Keurig coffee makers, but I found the end brew of the Nespresso Vertuo was a step above. Just looking at the machine, you can tell it is high quality. The bar code reading technology really helps make for the perfect cup using just the right amount of water and coffee to add a natural foam when the coffee is done brewing. The finished cup looks and taste like a cup of coffee you would get from a coffee house.
The Nespresso Vertuo is very easy to use even for a beginner user. It did not take very long to figure out how it all worked. It is simple- unlock the top, lift the handle, insert the pod, close the lid and twist the handle to close. The machine does the rest. Once the brew is done and the top is lifted, the used pod falls down into the waste receptacle. It’s as easy as 1-2-3.
Unlike the Keurig coffee makers where the K-cups can be purchased in almost any department store or grocery store, the Nespresso pods can only be purchased on the Nespresso site and they are at a higher price point than the K-cups averaging between .85¢ – $1.20 per pod with a minimum order of 50 pods. For some users, this can be inconvenient and expensive; however, if you are someone who appreciates a quality cup of coffee and a quality coffee machine, this price point might be fine for you. The Nespresso site is easy to use, and there is a variety of coffee to choose from. Each choice has a detailed description with a rating of the intenseness of the coffee which helps users find choices to suit their palate.
I would give this product an overall rating of 7/10. I would give it a higher rating if the pods could be purchased in other locations other than their website.
