Every Christmas Eve we borrow the telescope and search the skies for Santa. While we wait to see him fly across the sky the kids will take some time to explore the stars and planets. They were so excited to not only see the planet Mars but they were able to spot Santa too!

“If You Were Me and Lived on…Mars” by Carole P. Roman takes you on an amazing journey to Mars to explore what life would be like if we lived on the Red Planet.

Young Armchair travellers will learn all about Mars from a child’s perspective. Your little one will discover how Mars was named, what the surface of the planet is like, how the season’s change and everything in between.

The illustrations are full colour in the rich red tones that I imagine one would find on the surface of Mars. I would like to have some real-world images of Mars included, but that is just a personal choice.
The author, Carole P Roman, has included a list of words and definitions at the back of the book. I love that she has also included in brackets the pronunciation of new words in the text as well. This is an amazing resource for new (and not so new) readers. I often stumble across words I don’t know and this allows me to read aloud with confidence that I sometimes don’t feel.
“If You Were Me and Lived on…Mars” is a wonderful exploration of what like on the Red Planet would be like.
