Spring has finally sprung. Today was a beautiful day so while the kids were outside playing at the park I enjoyed a few minutes reading. “BloodLaw” by Blaise Ramsay is the first book in a paranormal, mystery series focusing on former Chicago ADA Alastair Maddox.
When Assistant District Attorney, Alastair Maddox is asked to assist on a “bizarre” case his life is turned upside down. The woman sitting in front of him in the interrogation room is anything but ordinary. Alexandra DeLane is a suspected serial killer with eyes the colour of blood. When she escapes Alastair becomes obsessed with finding her again. When he is brutally murdered Alastair soon discovers that death doesn’t mean the end…
BloodLaw is set in Prohibition Chicago. This isn’t a time period that I am familiar with. I like that the author has given a brief explanation and glossary to help the reader understand what is going in the world during this time frame.
The storyline follows Alastair as struggles to redefine himself in his new form and discover who or what wanted him killed. I have mixed feelings about the ending of the story, it left me wanting more. “BloodMoon” is the next book in the series and I look forward to reading it and have all my questions answered!
