Disclosure: I was given a complimentary copy of ‘Once “a pun” a Time’ in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.
The past year has been challenging for many families. Like many families, our family is currently engaged in virtual learning because of school closures. The school has provided our learning materials but sometimes we need to take a break from the more difficult lessons and just spend a few times laughing together instead. ‘Once “a pun” a Time’ written by Wulf Cub Chlo is a book of jokes that will put a smile on your face.
‘Once “a pun” a Time’ is written by 7-year-old Chloé aka Wolf Cub Chlo. Her goal with this book is to help bring a smile and joy to people.
The book is written in everyday language that kids today use. They will be able to practice their public speaking skills out on friends and family as they retell the jokes and puns.
The formatting of the book will appeal to young readers. The first portion of the book is dedicated to the jokes and puns. I like that each question and joke is separated on the page giving the reader the opportunity to guess the answer. The font is large, bold and easily read by young readers. Each page is colourfully illustrated with graphics.
The second portion of the book is a great introduction to writing your own jokes. The author explains what a homophone is and how to use it to create a pun. There is picture writing prompts and a space provided for your child to write in. My children feel like they are helping to co-author the book.
‘Once “a pun” a Time’ is an easy-to-read joke book for children that encourages creativity and creates hours of fun. Get social with the author by visiting her website or on Instagram.
